Every Ramadan we perform many good deeds while distancing ourselves from forbidden activities and this doesn't seem too hard to do during the month. Once the holy month ends, the real challenge begins!
All around you there are movies, music, TV and amazing entertainment that are carefully designed to kill our time by being so addictive that you cannot resist. Waking up early in the morning to perform Fajr Salah seems like an activity that is impossible to achieve. You go back to wasting time chit chatting with your friends all the time and the Quran is back in the cupboard intended to be taken out next Ramadan which we have no guarantee we will live to see.
Yes this indeed is what happens to most of us at the end of every Ramadan. During Ramadan we achieve 100% on Iman and good deeds only to fall back to 0% with the beginning of Shawwal. STOP! Do NOT think that the 100% and 0% are the only options on your plate! Even though you cannot achieve what you achieved in Ramadan, try to continue in small scales. You do not have to recite a whole lot of Quran a day instead, try to read at least two pages. Use the TV to watch useful and educational contents such as documentaries and Lectures which will help you grow. Talk to your friends about Islam, education, current issues and continue to learn what you do not know from them instead of the time wasting chit chatting. Connect with friends and family to wake each other up for Fajr and reward yourself for for keeping up with these goals.
You do not have to continue the 100% that you achieved in Ramadan. Instead try not to fall back to the 0% you were in Sha'ban. May Allah protect us all!
